A grain focuser is a tool that allows the printer to adjust the focus of an enlarger. It typically positions a mirror at a precise location such that when viewed through a lens it registers at the exact position of the paper. They're called a grain focuser because of the common strategy of focusing the enlarger by looking for sharp grain in the image.
